The first look from my much-anticipated Madderson London style-diary: The Saturday Dress – every maternity wardrobe should have one. It’s not only for Saturday btw. Wear-with-all, it pretty much goes with everything, any day, remaining a style-staple way beyond pregnancy.

Made from perfectly soft, luxurious modal with discreet side ruching and just the right amount of stretch allowing for that inevitable belly. (mine is now most definitely a proper bump!) A clever side slit also means this otherwise fitted style does not restrict movement. You just feel comfortable and loose. I am already beginning to ‘waddle’ so don’t need any more encouragement. I tend to stick to mannish boxy shapes during pregnancy, and more often than not would always pick something oversized than fitted. I guess I just feel less body-conscious that way. Wearing the Saturday I don’t feel any body-consciousness. It’s the perfect mix of fitted and flowing.

Wear your Saturday maternity maxi with an ankle boot or ballet flat and layer up with a leather jacket or overcoat. Alternatively style with a sequin jacket as I decided to do for a pre-christmas lunch. Accessorizing with less glam, more edgy, belted ankle boots. Balmain-esque if you will. (Sadly not the real thing. Just Aldo.) As you know I am not too feminine with what  I wear. I always seem to manage some kind of minimal edge. As I did pairing the same dress with a chunky knit the following day. A maxi dress is actually pretty versatile, huh?

The Saturday comes in either black or navy, equally as chic. It just depends on your own color preference. Shop for yours here. And please stay tuned for my second Madderson look – It’s all about the glamour next time.
