MY FIRST

28 Jan

With under six weeks to go I am definitely at that ‘nesting’ stage. I have (although I said I wouldn’t) purchased several new first outfits, the sales are just too tempting. And I am already starting to sort and wash all those tiny baby grows and cardi’s in preparation. I cannot wait to get the nursery finished now either. I was going to leave it as-is, painted in Farrow and Ball’s blackened, which is a lovely soft grey. But I am now thinking I would like to wallpaper one wall, in either a star or stripe. Thanks to Pinterest I have lots of ideas.

When it comes to thinking about those ‘My First’ pieces that I have kept for new babe, there are not actually too many. First time around I felt that I needed everything. At least ten packs of sheets, umpteen blankets, baby grows, bottles, dummies, toys, teddies, the list is endless. In hindsight, when sorting through old bits and deciding what to keep and what to chuck, the chuck pile is considerably greater. Just goes to show you really don’t need to get carried away. I have also learnt that anything cheap and part of that ‘essentials’ range will not last for number 2. It pays to spend a little bit extra.

My keepers mainly consist of anything I have aden + anais (The dream blanket and large muslin wraps are a favorite), Little White Company and Petite Bateau babygrows, an organic knitted hat and booties set by Aravore, Sophie Le Giraffe and a Jelly Cat white bunny. (Of course all the little designer outfits, coats and shoes are also to be kept, but at the moment I am just concentrating on those ‘My First’ pieces.)

So in the nesting spirit, I am now on a mission to stock up – aden + anais, LWC and Petite Bateau here I come. (I am especially excited to see aden + anais now do cot sheets and a changing mat cover in a star or stripe – The perfect partners for that wallpaper…)

Love,

Jess x
