It always seems a little pointless to go too crazy with a new summer wardrobe until the sales start. They generally all kick off before July these days. (Although not everywhere on the high street is on sale yet.) There is nothing worse than buying something at the beginning of the season that you haven’t actually worn yet and then seeing it in the sales for up to half the price! So annoying. Therefore when planning my holiday wardrobe for example, I always wait. We never go away until the school holidays start anyway and by then pretty much everywhere is on sale.

The most coveted sale on the high street probably has to be Zara, but you do need to act quickly with this one. There really isn’t much left already online, although I am told in store you will find a lot more. Other favourites of mine include Mango and &other stories. But the ones I get most excited about are Net A Porter and Matches. Generally because everything is always so beautiful and I want it all, but it’s always way too pricey for my budget. I envy anyone that can spend £500 plus on just one dress. Sigh. With their sales however there are always bargains to be had. This dress for example is gorgeous and under £100. And it’s in my current favourite shade of pink. I am contemplating getting it to wear at my daughter’s birthday party first, it can then be packed for hols. It also comes in petrol blue and Olive green. These velvet Ancient Greek  leather slides would be the perfect flat to wear with if you want a block colour look. Although I do already have my gold sequin bow slides by ApiediXAWB which I think would be ever prettier. Teamed with these earrings in gold and blush pink which I also love.

I have also added some high street sale bargains below that are all still up for grabs. Aside from holiday pieces I always look for wardrobe staples too in the sales. Like a classic crisp white shirt or jeans. This crisp white shirt with frill detail is so cute and now only £39. (Unintentionally everything seems to be either a shade of blue, blush pink or white. Clearly my colours…)

Happy Shopping,

Love, Jess

Snow’s over and Spring is definitely on the horizon, judging by all the pretty little flowers popping up everywhere anyway. I am still wearing my duvet coat for the school run so Spring is definitely not quite in the air yet. However I am more than fed up with winter fashion and my attention is definitely now on what’s trending for Spring Summer. I am totally over anything chunky, grey or black.

I love Spring, it’s definitely the prettiest season. This is not only evident in all the spring blossoms, daffodils and tulips, pretty pinks. Forals and lavender are also being injected into this seasons new collections. Everyday I have something new popping up in my inbox. My favourite high street stores are currently & Other Stories and H&M and their Spring, Summer edit has not failed to impress. H&M specifically (who seemed to nail AW17. Did anyone else find themselves buying so much from H&M over winter?) Florals and pinks aside, there are also quite a few lovely red pieces at H&M this season. Not bright red, which i’m not really a fan of unless on a lip or nail, but a more subtle orangy-red, or toned down with white embroidery. There is also a rather lovely long line trench, that comes in red, navy or dogtooth. It really reminds me of my beautiful Lucie trench by Acne I got for my birthday last year. (No style-statement in comparison, or in terms of quality or design, but at £39.99 it’s a really affordable alternative.)

A few other styles I have recently spotted, some I have already purchased in anticipations for warmer days. This ruffle summer knit from Other Stories was love at first sight. I have a feeling this will be on rotation with cropped denim and midi skirts all summer long. I am also in love with anything Three Graces.

I have a feeling summer is on it’s way out and there are only a few more weeks left of cropped looks and slides…. These past few mornings chunky knits have been calling me. I have managed to resist so far, however this has not stopped me looking out for new additions. This season the bigger the better, which is something I am really happy about, and is also great if you are with bump. You can’t beat a cosey oversized woolly. Wear with leather leggings or those favourite skinnies for everyday style.

Currently I am drawn to any shade of grey or beige, and if it’s roll neck? Even better.

I have been looking for the perfect pair of summer slides for a while now. Being more of a fashion style I didn’t really want to spend too much. I always save the designer shoe for something more classic that you will wear forever. Although If money were no object I would most definitely look straight to Celine or Marant. I also wanted my new slides to be white, so was in the mind set that a white pair of flats that will probably be worn a lot are not going to last more than one season. Then I came across these beauties. The perfect pair – white, celine-esque, with a little platform and under £50. Oh and they are super comfy. I would have kicked myself if I didn’t bring a pair home.

Said pair also come in metallic and black. I was very tempted by the metallic option, they did look really cool, but I wanted white so stuck with my instincts. These perfect beach-side buddies are already packed in my case.

What’s on my wishlist this Spring Summer?

Although I am not a girly girl, this season I am finding myself drawn to some of those pastel pieces. A little bit of candy pink teamed with white or grey is not too girly, right? I am also in love with the sporty-shoe-sandal-thing. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but there is something a little bit cool about a Slide. Step up Isabel Marant. Zara also have a couple of quirky styles, for those of you that are still un-decided and want something a little more throw-away.

An over-sized coat in cream is a must (Hello Ganni who also do a gorgeous pale pink version) a wide-leg pant, to team with a summer knit (slogans are cool), some cropped trousers or culottes (!), a structured crop-top, (I’m trusting my baby-belly will diminish soon allowing for this) a pleated midi-skirt (also great with that summer knit) and lots of button-front shirts. (I will be breastfeeding and nursing-wear in a word is atrocious.)

Isabella Oliver, Salina jacket, See by Chloe Chambray wide-leg pants, Topshop striped cotton oversized shirt, cable-knit jumper, Ganni Slogan sweatshirt, Ganni Button front cotton Dress, Joseph leather Saville trousers, Isabel Marant Holden cross-front slides

Sale season is definitely coming to an end. I keep popping back to see if there is anything I might be missing, but as predicted it’s just the dregs. Those silly sale regrets. Things you wouldn’t even look twice at if they were full price. So, forget the sales and concentrate on the new season I say. Now is the time to invest in those SS must-haves before it’s too late.

On my wish list. (From a purely fashion perspective, maternity, babies and children aside). Top of the list – a pair of slides.

Cable stitch oversized sweater Zara, Sleeveless shift dress Zara, Leather slides Chloe, Ofira jumpsuit Isabel Marant, Raffia bomber jacket Topshop unique, Metallic crop top Zara, Umber flannel check boyfriend trousers Isabel Marant Etoile, LA cropped T-shirt Mango, Metallic ballet flats Stella McCartney, Lulu bag Saint Lauren
