FROZEN-ESQUE PARTY

15 Jul

Whilst planning my daughter's fourth birthday party last month I stumbled across the sweetest personalised cake topper's via Instagram. Clara Ivy (claryivy.bigcartel.com) hand-makes any word, number or phrase in a choice of finishes to suit your theme. I feel in love, instantly.

The theme for our party was (of course) Frozen but I didn't want the more obvious style frozen cake - I wan't something a little more sophisticated and also a little different. I followed the ombre style of this sweet pink cake, swapping to frozen colours and a matching rainbow filling.  The glitter sil ... Read More

Even though I am no longer pregnant, I still like to keep on top of the latest maternity collections. Mumzynot is an on line destination for stylish mums and mums-to-be - so it's important to keep the latter readership happy too, right? As well, I am actually a little bit obsessed with maternity fashion. Perhaps even more so than the regular kind. Since the blog started four years ago the world of maternity has come a long way. It actually makes me miss a bump...

So, updates. I am currently obsessed with denim dungarees and ASOS maternity have a cute vintage-wash style. ... Read More

LADY IN RED

8 May

Hilaria baldwin
Not all of us would opt for such an eye-catching hue whilst eight months pregnant, but for those that dare, why not look to Hilaria Baldwin and her bump for inspiration. Dressed in a statement red (well it's actually bright coral)  maternity maxi dress whist out and about with her family in New York, one can't help but feel a little jealous of how good she looks.

I am not a huge fan of red, for me it's a colour for brunettes over blondes. I will always stick to a more subtle injection. I love a red nail for example. However, if you are looking for Hilaria's look, perhaps for a ... Read More

NAUTICAL UPDATES

IO Hayfield
Sartorial wise, a striped top is one of my favourite wardrobe staples. Nine times out of ten you will see me reach for a stripe when it comes to everyday style. Thrown on with denim of some description, or favourite leather pants, it's a style that is as simple as it is perfect. Every season nautical themes make a comeback in some way or another. So what's more of an excuse needed to update those stripes?

For pregnancy I love the simplicity of a striped tank, top, or dress. Isabella Oliver is a go-to. I lived in their ruched t-shirt dress during both my pregnancies, and their up ... Read More

POLKA DOTS

9 Apr

Pretty woman
Every season the polka-dot seems to make an appearance. Last year Burberry favoured the print, this year D&G. It's a classic and so easy to wear, making it no wonder the high street also likes to feature polka dots a lot. (And I can't not mention Kate Middleton's penchant to polka dot maternity style. She wore a Topshop style whilst pregnant with George and also introduced him to the world wearing Polka dots. Then more recently it was an ASOS addition that caught her eye.)

When I think of Polka dots I think of that dress in Pretty Woman. You know the one? Where she ... Read More

NON-MATERNITY, MATERNITY

Non Maternity maternity
Whenever I am nearby a COS I have to pop in. It's one of my favourite stores for everyday, and right up my street when it comes to timeless and oversized silhouettes. That's their signature, which works perfectly for me. And co-incidentally it also works perfectly as non-maternity, maternity. I loved shopping their during pregnancy too. It was refreshing to know I wasn't changing my own signature just because of a bump, and I knew those 'maternity' pieces would remained season after season so it was guilt free.

Scandinavian, maybe one of the reasons why I love it so much? (There ... Read More

Pastels maternity
Spring is just around the corner and I cannot wait for those first blossoms to fully bloom. Attention is also turning away from those winter knits. We can finally start thinking about more summery looks. One such trend, set to be big for the season, is pastels.

Now I'm not really a pastel kinda girl, I tend to stick to my more neutral uniform; greys, black and whites whatever the season. Come spring and summer I simply pick more white than black and lighter greys. However, if I were a fashion slave and followed the trends completely, there is a lot of shopping to be had. And I m ... KIERA KNIGHTLY

13 Feb

KN Bafta
Always effortless, Kiera Knightly never seems to step a foot wrong in the style stakes, and bump dressing proves no exception. Whether it be red carpet style, or lower key outfit selection, she always manages to stay true to her feminine, chic, signature.  If only we could all make expectant dressing look that easy. (And have that same no-barred access to custom maternity pieces from the likes or Erdem and Chanel.)

Designer statements aside, we can still take inspiration from her everyday maternity style. Her recent airport look for example. That cute ruffle, printed chiffon dr ... Read More

Have you got that all important New Years look sorted yet? Are you pregnant and slightly panicking about what to wear? For after dark glamour, step-up my favourite hero piece - the maxi dress.

Last year we stayed in for New Years. first time ever but it was actually quite nice, and being over six months pregnant I just couldn't face the party. However one time staying in over the festivities is enough, and this year we are going all-out to make up for it. Black-tie here we come. I am thus on the hunt for that perfect gown, I really fancy wearing something long in black (which I ... Read More
