NON-MATERNITY, MATERNITY

17 Mar

Non Maternity maternity
Whenever I am nearby a COS I have to pop in. It's one of my favourite stores for everyday, and right up my street when it comes to timeless and oversized silhouettes. That's their signature, which works perfectly for me. And co-incidentally it also works perfectly as non-maternity, maternity. I loved shopping their during pregnancy too. It was refreshing to know I wasn't changing my own signature just because of a bump, and I knew those 'maternity' pieces would remained season after season so it was guilt free.

Scandinavian, maybe one of the reasons why I love it so much? (There ... Read More

DAZZLING IN CREAM

12 Mar

Dutchess-cream
I'm not always a fan of the Duchess of Cambridge's style, those persistent nude heels for example, but sometimes she really does nail it. Today pictured visiting the set of Downton Abbey is case in point.

A simple, chic, cream coat, paired with black point-toe-pumps. Two wardrobe classics that just work, and it seems even more so when pregnant. I think it's that maternal glow. Cream is actually a really flattering colour to wear during pregnancy. In-fact, I purchased an oversized non-maternity cream coat whilst pregnant and I wore it a lot! I still wear it now. In this instance ... Read More

LACY UNDERNEATH

9 Mar

Topshop maternity set
Although I am no longer pregnant, I still like to keep a-breast of the new maternity collections to hit stores and on line. A-breast being the key phrase as I have just noticed that Topshop maternity have my perfect undies sets.

It seems that  I am not the only one to have noticed - all you pregnant ladies out there need to be quick as sizes seem to be flying. No wonder as at just £18 for a bra or £24 for the set it would be hard to resist. Pregnancy underwear is one part of maternity that simply cannot be over-looked, but at least you can still keep it pretty and lacy under ... Read More

TRENDING

Pastels maternity
Spring is just around the corner and I cannot wait for those first blossoms to fully bloom. Attention is also turning away from those winter knits. We can finally start thinking about more summery looks. One such trend, set to be big for the season, is pastels.

Now I'm not really a pastel kinda girl, I tend to stick to my more neutral uniform; greys, black and whites whatever the season. Come spring and summer I simply pick more white than black and lighter greys. However, if I were a fashion slave and followed the trends completely, there is a lot of shopping to be had. And I m ... ON A BUDGET

Sample sale - invitation
A few weeks back I was contacted by a producer of the BBC to see if I would be interested in taking part in a discussion on the 'art of maternity dressing' for radio 4's Woman's hour. This was an exciting email to be receiving, given there are many maternity and style blogs out there. Happily I accepted the offer. So stay tuned for that people....

Back to the point, and leading on from this quite appropriately - One of the questions the producer asked me during some telephone prep was whether there were any sites or sales for second hand maternity pieces, or maternity wear for t ... Read More

KIERA KNIGHTLY

13 Feb

KN Bafta
Always effortless, Kiera Knightly never seems to step a foot wrong in the style stakes, and bump dressing proves no exception. Whether it be red carpet style, or lower key outfit selection, she always manages to stay true to her feminine, chic, signature.  If only we could all make expectant dressing look that easy. (And have that same no-barred access to custom maternity pieces from the likes or Erdem and Chanel.)

Designer statements aside, we can still take inspiration from her everyday maternity style. Her recent airport look for example. That cute ruffle, printed chiffon dr ... Read More

LINGERIE

20 Jan

Ganni
One of my January traditions is to sort and re-vamp my underwear drawer. This is required even more so after having a baby and finishing breastfeeding - It's a little celebratory treat. (Paired with a little sadness that that special time is over.)

I am fortunate (or un-lucky depending how you look at it) that I have never had a problem buying nice underwear thanks to a moderate bust size. When pregnant and breastfeeding, although a-lot bigger, that size was still manageable and I could easily find comfortable and good-looking maternity and nursing pieces. My go-to's - ... Read More

A CHRISTMAS JUMPER?

12 Dec

Etoile Isabel Marant
It's obligatory right? At some point over the festive season you are requested to don that Christmas jumper. Whether you adhere or not is another matter.

If you do decide to play the game, after-all it's just a little fun, you are not un-spoilt for choice. There are a lot of Christmas styles out there to choose from. From Tesco, to Topshop, to Isabel Marant. Every budget is catered for, and every-kinda style statement too. I personally think I will go for something a little subtle, fair-isle is always a good option as it's not just for the festive period and can be worn ... Read More

DEAR SANTA

2 Dec

Moniva vinader
Now December is finally here it's time to start thinking gifts. And also time to start thinking about that wish-list. It's always fun creating your own gift-list, even if it is just in your head.

So what would I like to un-wrap this year Santa? Well being a typical female, fashion-loving, shoes and handbag obsessive, it's kinda easy. I'm also partial to anything Alex Monroe or Monica Vinader. (Specifically I would love an MV engraved necklace in rose gold.) I'm also in the market for some new perfume, seeing as my three year old has taken to my current collection so intently, I ... BLANKET CAPES

21 Oct

Blake-Lively
So in case you haven't already noticed, perhaps one of the biggest trends this Autumn/Winter has to be the blanket cape. Burberry set the scene with their monogrammed Prorsum blanket, taken straight from the runway onto the shoulders of the fashion elite. Then as is most things Burberry, the fashion world followed suit.

We cannot all afford in excess of £500 for the real-deal, (and personally I wouldn't spend that much for a seasonal piece that probably won't last more than one anyway..) but luckily there is a great choice of just-as-chic alternatives. What is just so great a ... Read More
