THE WHITE SHIRT

29 Mar

White shirt style
There is something about the perfect white shirt. Men, woman (maternity) and even little ones.  It's just a timeless piece however you choose to wear it. For such an effortless piece then, why is it so hard to find the perfect one?

For me that perfect one needs to be structured yet retain the softness you only get from the best quality cotton. It can't be too sheer, or crease at the slightest fold. It also needs to be some kind of boyfriend fit. The same rules apply when shopping for my husband or the girls. (An added criteria for the girls is a ruffle or peter-pan collar.) Wit ... Read More

DAZZLING IN CREAM

12 Mar

Dutchess-cream
I'm not always a fan of the Duchess of Cambridge's style, those persistent nude heels for example, but sometimes she really does nail it. Today pictured visiting the set of Downton Abbey is case in point.

A simple, chic, cream coat, paired with black point-toe-pumps. Two wardrobe classics that just work, and it seems even more so when pregnant. I think it's that maternal glow. Cream is actually a really flattering colour to wear during pregnancy. In-fact, I purchased an oversized non-maternity cream coat whilst pregnant and I wore it a lot! I still wear it now. In this instance ... Read More

ISABELLA OLIVER SS14

2 Mar

IMG_20140301_194253
Isabella Oliver is one of my go-to's when it comes to maternity wear. Their iconic jersey pieces are favoured by myself and celebrities a-like. When it comes to dressing that bump in comfort and style a ruched T-shirt or simple tank are essential elements to any such wardrobe. Not to mention a great pair of maternity jeans, leather pants, a chic LBD, and some more statement everyday looks if you wish. (Think sequin maternity jacket and elegant maternity-maxi.)

So when I was asked to review their new SS14 collection, I was more than happy to do so. Seein ... Read More

DATE NIGHT

19 Feb

IMG_20140218_182910
Valentines day when you are 36 weeks pregnant is not as exciting/glamorous as it perhaps should be. But I was not going to let any bump get in my way, and my husband and I still managed a little date-night. (Probably one of our last before the new arrival.) Nothing too spectacular, and not far from home - It was a candlelit dinner followed by the cinema. I was most excited about the cinema. I cannot remember the last time we went, literally. I think it was James Bond. The Wolf of Wall Street was fantastic BTW.

For date-night then, the perfect look (in my eyes) thanks to ... Read More

PHOEBE COLEMAN

14 Feb

Phoebe coleman bird
I always used to be a chunky-jewels kinda girl but for some reason or another my style has changed and I find myself more and more drawn to those delicate, simplistic pieces. Alex Monroe and Monica Vinader are my go-to designers of choice, but more recently I have fallen in love with newcomer Phoebe Coleman. The Notting Hill based designer offers something slightly unique and totally chic. I would happily make room in my jewelry box for a number of her pieces.  Those pretty little rings especially are totally wearable.

It's a bit late for Valentine's Day but my 30th i ... Read More

ALL BLACK

13 Feb

All-black-Gwen
Once again Gwen Stafani steals the crown in the maternity style steaks. (Well mine anyway.) Dressed in a chic all black ensemble, and some killer heels, there are no signs the heavily pregnant star is intending to let her fashion credentials slip. I do wonder though if behind doors she too lives in leggings and flats?

Leggings aside, a pair of leather pants have fast become a maternity wardrobe staple, and thankfully several maternity labels have taken note. Isabella Oliver do the perfect pair. Wear-with-all day and night they will last throughout your pregnancy and be ... Read More

UNIQUE SS14 HAS LANDED

11 Feb

Topshop-uniquw-3
Yipee (!) The Topshop unique SS14 collection has finally landed and once again it does not disappoint. Unique's slouchy, over-sized designs that we all know and love are in abundance - re-worked into barely-there sundresses, chic prints and that beautiful blue. The tweed fringed shorts and jacket, with a subtle nod to Chanel, is just divine . I basically want it all.

This is a collection that is not only stylish but totally baby-bump friendly. Great for hiding a multitude of sins post birth. (minus those crop-tops.) Investment pieces at your fingertips, that will not on ... Read More

MADDERSON LONDON LAUNCH WOMENSWEAR

6 Feb

Madderson-Lond-on
I'm going to keep this brief, I'm still feeling horrendous thanks to this bug that's going around. But I just wanted to post about the recent Madderson London press launch, which I have been meaning to do all week.

At the end of Jan I attended Madderson's Beaufort House party, where their stunning début womenswear collection was revealed. The likes of Grazia, Tatler and Hello magazine were in attendance, as well as some very influential stylists, models and celebrities. (Tamara Beckwith, Martha Ward, Tilly Boone, June Sarpong and Lisa Butcher, to name just a few.) As e ... Read More

GWEN STAFANI

Gwen-stafani
She is probably my favourite style-wise at the moment, Gwen Stafani always look so cool and she does not let that bump get in her way.

I love everything about this latest look, it's just my kinda thing. (Minus those killer heels, my pelvis no longer allows for a stiletto.) I am now on the hunt for a pair of chic print (maternity) trousers, how fabulous.

Get the look:

Blue felt fedora Topshop, Draped cashmere waterfall cardigan Blossom, Snake print trousers with elasticated waist Selected Shaka, Print maternity trousers Isabella ... Read More

METALLICS

30 Jan

Metallics
I don't know about you but this week has been so depressing - Thank you January, rain, grey and cold. At times like this anything to add a bit of shine into ones day is much appreciated. So, hello new-season metallics.

A 34 week bump paired with a high-shine dress or billowing sequin top is perhaps not the best idea for a flattering silhouette, but thanks to all those glittering accessories one can still get in on the action. And if I am honest with such a statement trend I think it's always better to inject that look with an accessory - A silv ... Read More
