ZARA MATERNITY WEAR

15 Oct

Zara blouse
So I was just browsing Zara on-line for the girls (and for me) and noticed a new maternity section. About time Zara. Great news. It should be good.

Although very limited their maternity pieces don't disappoint. Out of the 11 items on offer (four are 'mum' jeans) I would happily pick any one to wear myself. The minimal and roomy feel is perfect, looking comfortable whilst retaining style. I would perhaps sum it up as a capsule collection for pregnancy. Day to night dress. check. Jeans. check. Blouse. check. My favourite piece is probably the faux leather dress, which I w ... Read More

BURGUNDY PIECES

Burgundy
According to the fashion guides Burgundy is the colour of the season. And that's fine by me. I've never been a huge fan of red. It's a difficult hue to master stylishly especially if you are blonde. And even then i'm not a fan on me. I honestly don't think I have one piece in my wardrobe that's red. However, burgundy I am all over. Classic, stylish, yet remaining sultry.  A cashmere sweater, bag or burgundy skirt has gone straight to the top of my list of new season updates. Preferably in cord or velvet.

What I love even more is that this trend has filtered down into c ... Read More

OFF THE SHOULDER

I wasn't 100% sure about the off-the-shoulder look at first. Perhaps a little too bohemian for my style, and definitely not something I was dying to add to my wardrobe. But as with all these things, you never know before you try. On this occasion I was actually pleasantly surprised.

Looking further into the trend, and now knowing it can work with my more minimal style, I have started to notice more and more off-shoulder pieces I am wanting to add. Although I am still thinking sensibly. As with most trends, it's best not to get too carried away. Sticking to just one or two more c ... Read More

CLEARANCE

clearance
It's important to remember when shopping the sales - even those amazing bargain clearance items - would I want it full price? If the answer is no then look away.

To avoid being fooled by a discount I like to keep things simple. Searching out classic and timeless pieces means you won't go wrong. Stick to what you know (and wear) best. Denim, cami-basics and a great pair of flats are always a great place to start. I also like to search beachwear and bags. We always head off for some kind of winter sun and finding new holiday pieces in the Winter is near-all impossible. Amongst all ... Read More

FINERY LONDON

Finery dress
Perhaps not one for those expecting, but worth a bookmark for post-baby treats. A new discovery of mine - Finery London.

As quoted by Vogue: 'Chic, shockingly affordable and very well designed' FineryLondon.com is my kinda online boutique. With a hint of Scandinavian styling, bold prints and masculine silhouettes, there are more than a few looks I wouldn't mind being updated with right now. Favourites include a modern tie-waist jumpsuit and Ivory organza dress, which I think has a real Victoria Beckham vibe. (Maybe not worn with those shoes however. A Saint Laurent Jane would be ... MISCHKA AOKI

Cousins
So today the news was finally confirmed, Kim Kardashian is expecting baby number two. Well that was only a matter of time, hey, all you KWTK fans? So pregnancy announcements aside, and more importantly - what about those tutu's Penelope and North were pictured in recently? Love, love, love.

Mischka Aoki is a luxury childrenswear brand that has been on my radar for a while now, I get regular PR updates to my inbox. But in all honestly had never really taken much notice. Mainly because I am not really into that girly, frilly kinda look - for myself or for my girls. However, this i ... Read More

LITTLE DUDES

DUdesndolls
As a mother of two girls, when it comes to mini-style I have it easy. From my own shopping experiences, just keeping an eye out to all aspects of fashion, I notice (and am constantly hearing complaints from friends) that comparatively little boys style is a lot harder to come by. So this one if for you guys. Those with little dudes. Aptly, dudesndolls.co.uk.

Dudes n Dolls offer simple, cool, quirky, and stylish, printed leggings and harems. That, most importantly here, are very reasonably priced. Not may of us feel the need to pay £30 for leggings, even for ourselves....If I ha ... Read More

SHOE UPDATE

Eytys look
Being a mum of two small children, my shoe wardrobe has become pretty much over-run with flats. No matter how much I love a heel, the flat always seems to win. I just can't be bothered tottering around in heels with little ones in tow. Time is of the essence as it is.

Luckily there are a wealth of beautiful flat options out there, and actually the flat is just as much high fashion as any stiletto. My pair of Valentino rock studs is case in point.  The current go-to for everyday however is a more basic shoe, a little less high-fashion but just as charming in its own way. Specifi ... Read More

THE WHITE SHIRT

White shirt style
There is something about the perfect white shirt. Men, woman (maternity) and even little ones.  It's just a timeless piece however you choose to wear it. For such an effortless piece then, why is it so hard to find the perfect one?

For me that perfect one needs to be structured yet retain the softness you only get from the best quality cotton. It can't be too sheer, or crease at the slightest fold. It also needs to be some kind of boyfriend fit. The same rules apply when shopping for my husband or the girls. (An added criteria for the girls is a ruffle or peter-pan collar.) Wit ... Read More

LEGOE.LAND MATERNITY

In the words or Alexander McQueen, 'there is no better designer than nature.' So with nature being the greatest, what better way to celebrate than with the introduction of an exciting new maternity label to compliment it.

Legoe.Land maternity is launching any time soon and i'm pretty excited given the snippets seen from their instagram page, and i'm not even pregnant! By the looks of things this is my kinda clothing, bump or not. Australian based, (darn) but shipping worldwide, (phew) it promises to bring 'wearable, tran-seasonal and timeless basics' to the world of expectant st ... Read More
